William Whistler founded Green Building Solutions International (GBSI) in 2010, the first air tightness, building infrared and indoor air quality testing service in the region. GBSI is committed to providing high quality support services for sustainability efforts to the GCC and the wider MENA region.
Mr. Whistler has become the leading advocate of building envelope integrity, finding solutions for the special challenges of this area’s harsh hot climate. Adhering to international protocols for air tightness and air quality testing, GBSI has tested some of the largest, most complex and important new building projects in the UAE including the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, the LEED Platinum, 5 Pearl Siemens ME headquarters as well as conducting the first air tightness test under the new Dubai Green Building Regulations.
Mr. Whistler holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt institute, New York City and a Master of Arts for Urban Design from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, UK.
He has been a registered Architect in the US since 1979. Throughout his 30 - year career, his award winning projects have frequently focused on sustainable design, quality construction and the use of new materials.
His contributions to the field of building integrity in extreme climates have been widely published in the industry including the CIBSE Journal, Big Project Magazine, BGreen Magazine, Emirates Green Building Council and he is a member of The Big 5 Hub Expert Panel.
